Pangarap Co began as two artists who admired each other's skills and talent and decided to collaborate to create impactful murals together. As two transplants, they have found a home in the dynamic city of San Francisco, and hope to work on walls in the bay area and beyond.
Mission Statement
Founded by Pablo Ruiz-Arroyo and Mariel-Mae Paat, Pangarap Co. is an artist collective designed to transform public walls into visual narratives that reflect the diverse identities, history, and dreams of the local community. Collectively we offer experiences as artists, muralists, poets, and educators that stem from the bay area and extend nationally and internationally. As creators we aim to be positive catalysts in the community by building authentic relationships that lead towards impactful artwork for all to enjoy.

Mariel Paat is an artist and educator born in Visalia, CA, and is based in San Francisco. She received her BA in studio art and art history from San Francisco State University. Her oil paintings are explorations of her identity as a first generation Filipino-American existing within the diaspora. She combines her portraits with specific settings and objects that are reminiscent of her upbringing as a way to preserve her family’s narratives.
Currently she is a studio artist at Root Division, and in addition to her practice she teaches K-8th grade art at San Francisco Schoolhouse. Her artwork has been on view at Root Division, KSW, The Drawing Room, OACC, 2023 DeYoung Open, and SOMArts.

“Raiz”, also known as Pablo Moisés Ruiz Arroyo, started his career in La Paz, Bolivia Plurinacional (A state of many nations). His hometown is a place of diverse indigenous cultures, and a huge inspiration to his art and life. Upon settling in California, opportunities for mural work took him global, including Australia, South East Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore), New Zealand, Central America, and Europe. Now back in San Francisco, Pablo collaborates with local organizations such as Precita Eyes Muralists, Mission Housing, Mission Cultural Center, The Center for Independent Living, the San Francisco Arts Commission, and many others. Together with Pancho Pescador he co-founded “Chilovia,” a portmanteau of Chile + Bolivia, and tribute to their two home countries. He got his BA in fine arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009 with a focus on Communication Arts.
Since his return to San Francisco he has dedicated his time to contributing to community based arts such as murals and group projects. He participates in various gallery shows in such places as the Mothbelly Gallery, Against The Grain Gallery, and Helvela Studios. He assists on many murals throughout the Bay Area to such artists as Johanna Poethig, Daniel Galvez, Marta Ayala, Twin Walls Murals, and many others. He is currently displayed on a collaborative mural in the Oakland International Airport and is in the process of installing a new collaborative mural in the Ashby BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station of Berkeley.
